Additional Notes The Shap Granite boulders recorded here are on Private Land. No Public Access. Photographs of boulders representative of this group are seen below. The detailed GPS recording of the very many individual Shap Boulders on Stainmore and in Teesdale recognised previously during many years of fieldwork together with further targeted fieldwork currently in hand should confirm or revise the existing recorded southern and northern limits of their distribution. The southern limit of these boulders has been defined previously as on the northern side of the A66 road over Stainmore by A. Raistrick (Raistrick 1926, Proc. Yorks. Geol. Soc., Vol XX, Pl xx).
