Post-excavation: finds processing begins
So many quern fragments; it is tempting to speculate that there is some significance related to the primary function of this site. The steelyard weight unearthed in the 2017 dig suggested trading, while the collared hopper quern suggested a link to the Roman military, perhaps the fort at Catterick. This year we have found 16 further quern pieces. What does it mean?
