Graham Taylor: potter extraordinaire!
On 12th July we were pleased to welcome Graham Taylor on site. Graham is an experimental archaeologist and ancient pottery technology specialist based in Rothbury, Northumberland. He is currently working with the Fabric of Place project in Swaledale and was interested to see how the Hagg dig was progressing and what we had found. His visit happily coincided with the children from Arkengarthdale School who were treated to a short workshop on Roman pottery. They were able to handle accurate replicas of Nene Valley ware, mortaria, samian and face pots and were absolutely fascinated by what they saw; a magical moment!
Graham's website is: Potted History
